BORC - Alloy Banger Rules 2024Shell Construction:
- All shells must represent a full-size vehicle with correctly sized windows and panels, featuring a maximum return fold of 10mm.
- Shells must be constructed using a single skin of 0.5mm aluminum; double skinning is not permitted.
- The minimum ground clearance for shells, chassis, and all parts is 3mm.
Bonnet and Boot/Tailgate:
4. Bonnets must be easily removable with a maximum of 4 securing bolts, without the use of rivets or cable ties.
- Boot/tailgate must have a maximum of 6 fixings, using bolts, rivets, or cable ties.
Estate/Hearse Shells:
6. Estate/Hearse shells must not have a full parcel shelf, only rear inner arch coverings.
- No more than 8 rivets are allowed in each rear arch/quarter to secure the parcel shelf/inner arch, regardless of body type.
Front Bumper Bars, Sun Visors, and Roof Fins:
8. Folded front bumper bars made from 0.5mm aluminum, no deeper than 10mm, and secured with a maximum of 4 rivets are permitted.
- Sun visors are allowed.
- Roof fins may be made from ABS or alloy, but must not exceed the size of a standard Kamtec ABS fin.
- 'Side fins' up to the same dimensions are also permitted.
Door Plates and Steam Tanks:
12. Door plates resembling their full-size version, made from any material but not exceeding 2mm thickness, can be used.
- Steam tanks are permitted, either straight 'bulkhead' tank or 'L' shaped tank, with a maximum of 4 fixings.
Body Fixing and Cradles:
14. Bodies can be fixed at the front either directly to the chassis or using a custom cradle.
- The cradle's frontmost part must be no more than 10mm tall with a minimum gap of 30mm on either side.
- The rearmost upright part of the cradle must sit central to or behind the front wheels.
- Custom 'H' frames, constructed from aluminum or steel, may be adjustable with a maximum of 10mm 'box,' must be used to fix the body to the top deck.
Mounting and Fasteners:
18. Shells must not be mounted using ABS-style plastic posts, except when the three-wheel chassis is used.
- The body must not be bolted or riveted to the chassis/top deck rear of the 'H' frame.
- Rear pod guards are not permitted.
- Bulkhead braces are allowed but must not be wider than the top deck.
- M4 bolts may be used for securing the lower part of the 'H' frame and front cradle, while all other nuts, bolts, and fixings must not exceed M3.
Repairs and General Standards:
23. Repairs to the shell may be carried out using 0.5mm aluminum.
- Repair plates should be on the inside of the body wherever possible and carried out to a sensible standard.
- Any bolts with threads showing to the outside of the body must have the threads cut flush.
- The maximum size of 2.4mm rivets is allowed anywhere on the body.
General Guidelines:
27. All other rules related to running gear must follow the same standards as listed in the 'ABS' formula rules.
- If the rules don't explicitly allow something, it is likely not permitted.
- Scrutineering may occur at any time, pre or post-race. Any illegal cars may be disqualified.
